Starting off the Las Vegas 200 with an impressive drive from P9 into the lead within the first few laps and pulling away from the field, Benjamin Fischer faltered late in a green white checkered finish to end up P12 at Las Vegas
The No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with Benjamin Fischer behind the wheel led a race-high 66 laps and looked like a contender for the win, but a late caution with five laps to go and pit stop for four fresh tires proved to be an ill-fated decision.
The Leipzig, Germany driver who celebrated his birthday on Wednesday lost control in turn four coming to the checkered flag, but held on to finish P12. But once across the start/finish line Fischer collected a number of other cars setting up a huge pileup after the conclusion of the race. “It was a messy end. We made the wrong call on coming down pit road with five laps to go under yellow. We should have stayed out and played track position. But it is what it is. We’ll learn and move on. It’s a learning curve this year, for sure. I had fun today anyway. The Fischernetz Design Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was wicked fast today.”, Fischer commented on the race. Scoring 12th place points, Fischer now sits fourth in the division 3 standings of the NASCAR iRacing Series. The next NASCAR iRacing Series race for the team will be the Phoenix 156 at Phoenix International Raceway on March 11th.
