The most prestigious endurance race of the year is upon us: The iRacing 24 Hours of Le Mans. Fischer Motorsport has entered two LMP2 Prototypes with a lineup of eight drivers, in the quest to take victory.

For Fischer Motorsport, winning the 2020 iRacing 24 Hours of Le Mans in a one-two GTE class finish remains one of the biggest highlights in the team’s 20-year history.

This weekend, the team for the first time ever, will not compete in GT but with two LMP2 Prototype entries instead.

David Koopmans, Pascal Theis, Will Robertson and Stephen Nobes will share driving duties in the No. 4 Dallara P217. For Robertson, it is the first time he races with Fischer Motorsport, since coming onboard two weeks ago.

“I’m very excited about making my first start with the team. Everybody’s been so great and the preparation was very intense. Of course, Le Mans is as big a race to make your debut, as possible. So I’m very much focused on making no mistakes and help the team.”, said Robertson.

Niclas Pedersen, Manuel Mayer, Benjamin Fischer and Pascal Schindler will be the drivers-quartet in the No. 14 Dallara P217 running under the banner of Fischer Motorsport USA. The team had previously won the VSCA race at Mosport in July.

“There is nothing like Le Mans, obviously. We’ve been working very hard to prepare for this, as it’s certainly one of the most important races of the year for us. All of the other races we have run this year, you could say were a preparation for this one. We feel very well prepared. Now it’s time to go out and show what we’re capable of.”, LMP2 Prototype program manager Kyle Birnie said.

Kyle Birnie and his brother Jason, who both competed in last year’s edition of the race in the LMP2 Prototype, will not be competing in Le Mans this year. However, Kyle will be present at the track for the race, as the LMP2 Prototype program manager of Fischer Motorsport USA, that is headquartered in California.

Fischer Motorsport will provide live onboard streams from inside both cars for the duration of the race. The live streams can be viewed on YouTube.

The 2022 iRacing 24 Hours of Le Mans go under way on Saturday at 20:11 CEST / 2:11 pm EDT.
