Fischer Motorsport signs Nelson Eberth
Eberth has his roots in motocross competition as a kid, where he competed in various championships for seven years. Later on, he did some go-karting, before landing with Fischer Motorsport in his first start with the team in the 24 Hours of Daytona in January.
In that race, Eberth showed very consistent performance and competitive speed, overcoming two incidents in the race, that otherwise went perfect for the Surheim, Germany native.
Eberth will run the full VSCA SportsCar Championship season in the No. 84 Porsche 911 GT3 R with fellow Bavarian team-mate Manual Mayer.
“I am very thankful for this opportunity. Daytona was a great experience for me. I know it wasn’t perfect and I had a couple of mistakes in the race, but I felt right at home in the team and it was just a great fit.”, explained Eberth in a statement.
“I want to thank Benjamin [Fischer] and all of Fischer Motorsport to give me this opportunity and to be so welcoming. I’m super motivated to attack this season and make the best of it.”
Team founder and manager Benjamin Fischer said: “Nelson has done a great job at Daytona. When Nate became unavailable on short notice, because of COVID, we needed a solid replacement and Nelson has been that and then some.”
“We believe in Nelson’s quality as a driver and also appreciate his personality, that is a great addition to the team. We are looking forward to hopefully win races together and bring further success to this organization.”, Fischer concluded.
For Eberth, the next start will be Saturday’s 12 Hours of Sebring, Round 2 of the 2022 VSCA SportsCar Championship, where he will once again share the cockpit of the No. 84 Porsche GT3 R with Manuel Mayer.
