Fischer Motorsport signs Marton Tihanyi
The unquestioned highlight of his time with the team so far is a second-place finish in the 2021 iRacing 24 Hours of Le Mans with the No. 84 Porsche 911 RSR GTE team.
The Hungarian will now be slotted into full-time competition with the GT program of the organization, focused on the Porsche 911 RSR GTE in the iRacing special events.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have been able to sign Marton. He is already a fantastic asset to the team and has been a big part of our success in the iRacing 24 Hours of Le Mans this year and our No. 84 Porsche RSR team.”, team manager Benjamin Fischer said.
“It is rare to find a talent like Marton on the free agent drivers market. Adding the fact that he’s a great guy with a truly professional attitude and willingness to put in a lot of effort for every single race, he represents everything we are looking for in a driver.”, Fischer added.
Tihanyi was not available on-site as he is vacationing during the team’s summer break, but issued the following written statement on Thursday:
“I am thankful for my previous experiences and teams that I ran with. But I felt like it was time for me to take the next step and I can honestly say, with the professional attitude and serious effort put in by everybody at Fischer Motorsport, this was the perfect fit for me.”
“I am very happy that I am given this opportunity and I fully plan on making the most of it. Finishing in second place in the iRacing 24 Hours of Le Mans this year was great, but I want more. It’s going to be an exciting future and I can’t wait to see what it has in store for me and the team.”
Tihanyi’s next start will supposedly be the iRacing Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in early October – the final iRacing special endurance event of the year.
The team has yet to make an announcement on whether Tihanyi will be competing in next year’s iRacing Nürburgring Endurance Championship.
