Preview: iRacing 24 Hours of Daytona
Kyle Birnie, Manuel Mayer, Benjamin Fischer and Y. Hignet are the four pilots sharing the cockpit of last year’s race-winning (split 13) No. 84 Porsche. In the team’s sister car No. 85 Porsche it will be Pascal Theis, Niklas Solle, Jason Allen and Nathan Manning.
Fischer Motorsport arrived to Florida last week and logged countless laps in the free practice sessions.
“We’re prepared very well. I have to compliment the guys. Everybody in the team has worked so hard and given everything. Now we need to take care of business and turn this into a good, solid race.”, said team owner Benjamin Fischer.
For the 36-year old the 24 Hours of Daytona are something very special as well.
“The 24 Hours of Daytona re super important, because it’s the first big endurance race of the year, after the winter break. And Daytona has this amazing history, that you feel when you arrive here.”
Speaking of arriving. Aside from the goal to repeat the win from last year, the most important goal for the team will be to finish the race.
“The start is always a bit tricky here. Especially in turn one and the hairpin on lap one. We’ve seen this in the last few years, that crashes happen there often. So we really need to be careful and get through that first lap.”, Pascal Theis said.
Race start for the iRacing 24 Hours of Daytona is Saturday 14:40 CET / 8:40 am EST.
