Benjamin Fischer and Niclas Pedersen together with the No. 84 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup team run a near-perfect race in Saturday’s NEC Round 9 to take their third win of the season in the final race of 2022.

If Saturday’s NEC Round 9 reminded us of anything, it is the ultimate truth in racing, that it doesn’t matter where you start, but where you finish.

Qualifying the No. 84 Porsche in a solid fourth place on the grid, Benjamin Fischer was the starting driver for the team in the 2022 NEC season finale.

“Quite honestly, I didn’t expect to be running near the front, nor that we would end up winning this race, since I’m a little bit off pace compared to Niclas and we decided that I’d start the race this time.”, said Fischer.

But not only did Fischer gain a position at the start, he maintained competitive pace to stay in the top three throughout the first stages of the four-hour race and by the midway point even took the lead.

That’s when the 38-year old approached pit lane for the team’s lone driver swap pit stop of the day. Pedersen jumped behind the wheel and went back out on track, holding second position. Another competitor had decided to short-pit earlier, putting them in the lead, but the Fischer Motorsport crew knew it was only a matter of two or three laps before the competitors should make their pit stop.

It all came together just as planned and two laps later Pedersen took the lead, six laps before the finish. The Dane never looked back and brought home win number three for the No. 84 Porsche team on the 2022 NEC season.

“This team has worked so hard all year. It is fantastic to see results. It’s incredibly satisfying to finish 2022 like this.”, said Pedersen.

“Unfortunately, we could not attend all races this year. I have a feeling we would have been a threat for the championship, honestly. But we’ve shown that we’re to be reckoned with. I have to give a huge compliment to the team, for all the hard work and time put into this. It means a lot to me, to get these three wins this year.”

Fischer added: “Niclas is the best team-mate anybody could ask for. It was a lot of fun to race with him this year. I’m proud of the team as a whole.”

The win moved the No. 84 Porsche into tenth place of the 2022 championship standings at 3 wins, 5 podium finishes and 6 top-tens in 6 starts.
