In probably the most competitive NEC race of the season so far, Fischer Motorsport and the No. 84 Porsche team celebrate a second-place finish after winning the pole and leading the first half of the race

Niclas Pedersen set the tarmac on fire by setting up the No. 84 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) on pole position for Sunday’s NEC Round 7 and then followed that up with a strong start and leading the first half of the four-hour race at the Nürburgring.

“It was nice to sit on pole. The car felt great, also in the race. The other competitors in our class that were right behind us sometimes had a bit higher apex speed and braked a bit deeper into the corners, but our car worked great on the corner exit. I’m quite happy with my two stints today. I had a lot of fun.”, Niclas Pedersen recapped the race.

The team made its lone driver swap pit stop with about one hour and 45 minutes remaining in the event and Leipzig, Germany’s Benjamin Fischer climbed behind the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

Fischer had strong pace, but saw himself under fire from eventual race winners, the No. 13 Speedworld Academy Porsche. At Döttinger Höhe, Fischer eventually had to give up the lead, but continued to battle hard the rest of the way.

“I gave it all I had. It just wasn’t quite enough today. Second place is great of course, but still I’m a bit disappointed I couldn’t bring home Niclas’ great run to get us the win. Niclas was absolutely amazing today. Maybe next time we can get the top step on the podium.”, said Fischer.

After two podium finishes in the last two NEC championship rounds, the No. 84 Porsche team now moves into 22nd place in the 911 Cup class standings.

The iRacing Nürburgring Endurance Championship returns for Round 8 on September 25th.
