Preview: iRacing NEC Round 7
Departing from its routine, Fischer Motorsport will enter only one car in this weekend’s race. Niclas Pedersen and Benjamin Fischer will share the cockpit of the No. 84 BMW M4 GT3.
At 526 points, the team currently sits in 35th place in the championship standings. Most recently, things did not go well in the “Green Hell”.
In NEC Round 5 in July, the team retired following a crash, ending up P19 officially. In the last race, championship round 6 in early August, the team managed to finish the race, but because of another crashe did not get past a tenth-place finish.
“Yeah, this season hasn’t been great for us so far, not the way we hoped. The change to the BMW M4 GT3 has been more difficult for us than we had hoped and we also made too many individual errors and had some bad luck, with crashes and defects.”, team manager Benjamin Fischer said.
“But the season is not over yet. We still got three races ahead of us. We want to use the six-hour race this weekend to turn things around. We want to finish in the top-five. It won’t be easy, but I definitely think if we make no mistakes, it’s possible for us.”, Fischer added.
The weather forecast says the race may run in heavy fog. After late-summer high temperatures the past few days, temperatures are dropping significantly for the weekend, making fog quite likely in the Eifel region.
“Well, the Eifel is being the Eifel. We can’t change the weather anyway. When it’s foggy, it will be foggy. As long as the organizers say we’ll race, we’ll be there.”, said Niclas Pedersen who will make his fifth NEC start for Fischer Motorsport on Sunday.
