Sunday’s iRacing NEC Round 5 will take place with a different set of emotions for Fischer Motorsport than normal. After the news of devastating flooding in the Eifel region these past days, the team’s thoughts are with those affected. And the team will race for a good cause this weekend.

As announced by the team on Friday, Fischer Motorsport will donate 2 EUR to the Eifel flooding disaster relief fund of the German Red Cross (DRK) for every lap any of the team’s cars will complete in Sunday’s Round 5 of the 2021 iRacing Nürburgring Endurance Championship.

"The Nürburgring and Eifel are our home, even if only virtually. Even if it’s just a little bit in the big context of things, we want to help by donating to the relief fund and support those, who have been hit the hardest by this horrible disaster."

"Our thoughts are with everyone that has lost loved ones in this disaster, or who have lost their homes or businesses.", team manager Benjamin Fischer said.

With an usual average distance of 30 laps, if both cars of Fischer Motorsport complete the race on Sunday, the team will donate 120 EUR to the relief fund.

"But if we fail to finish or crash out early, god forbid, then we will donate a minimum of 100 EUR regardless. We just want to help, that’s the main thing here.", Fischer added.

With the news of the flooding disaster on everybody’s mind, the championship battle and on-track action has moved out of the main focus.

The team will be trying to bounce back from a disappointing race in Round 4 of the NEC, two weeks ago, when the No. 84 BMW with Florian Volk and Benjamin Fischer crashed out of the race, only after suffering electrical problems before that.

The No. 85 BMW with Pascal Theis and Niclas Pedersen finished the race two weeks ago, but will hope to improve upon an eighth place finish.

"We have another good reason to do our best this weekend. Hopefully we can bring some relief to the people affected in the Eifel region, even if it’s just a small bit. But if we needed extra motivation to do well on the race track this weekend, well this is it.”, Pascal Theis said.

The race is scheduled to go green on Sunday at 15:45 CEST / 9:45 am EDT.

Fischer Motorsport encourages all fans and friends to consider donating to the Eifel flooding disaster relief fund.
