Before entering a four-week long summer break, the iRacing Nürburgring Endurance Championship continues with Round 6 this weekend. After a strong second place finish last Sunday, the No. 84 Porsche team will attack again in the hope of reaching the top step on the podium. Meanwhile, the No. 85 Porsche Cayman GT4 team hopes to bounce back after back-to-back DNF.

After a very successful start to the season including three podium finishes in the first three races, Pascal Theis and Julian Bell had to deal with bitter disappointment in the last two races.

Consequently the No. 85 Porsche Cayman GT4 team fell back to sixth place in the overall standings of the GT4 class, but still holds an excellent chance to battle for a top spot in the championship battle of 2020.

However, this will require a turnaround starting this weekend, in the form of a solid points paying finish in Sunday's race.

"Our pace isn't the problem. We're doing pretty good in that regard, I'd say. Unfortunately we had some bad luck, crashes and also technical problems in the last few races. The whole team works really hard to make sure it's going better this sunday.", explained Pascal Theis on the situation.

Things are going better recently for the No. 84 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup team and the veteran drivers duo of Manuel Mayer and Benjamin Fischer. After winning NEC Round 4 in June, the team followed up with a second place finish in last Sunday's six hour race.

At the halfway point of the season and with four races remaining, the team now holds the fourth spot in the CUP class overall standings.

"We can't ease off. Yes, things are going well for us right now. But the competition is very close. It's not always easy, to push but also at the same time not take too much risk. Only one mistake and your race is over.", Benjamin Fischer said.

"I think it's a bit early to talk about the championship. The top two teams Burst eSports and Ascher Racing are well ahead of us, with a big points lead. But I'm very proud of the team and how we did in the first half of the season.", Fischer added.

The sixth championship round starts Sunday and will go the usual distance of four hours. Start of the race will be in the afternoon at 15:45 CEST / 9:45 am EDT.
