No. 84 Porsche Second in NEC Round 5

In a highly dramatic six hour race, the endurance classic at the halfway point of the iRacing NEC season, Fischer Motorsport and the No. 84 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup team with Manuel Mayer and Benjamin Fischer capture second place.

In a race that was marked by tough position battles from start to finish, Fischer and Mayer showed great grit and consistency. Starting from eighth place, the team even managed to capture the lead and lead some laps, but had to leave the top step on the podium to the No. 2 Porsche of Arturas Kundelis at the end.

The race took place at high summer temperatures and thus all teams and drivers battled with a very slippery track surface offering very little grip.

This also played an unfortunate role for the team's other car, the No. 85 Porsche Cayman GT4 with Julian Bell and Pascal Theis. After Bell had a slight contact with the barriers during his first stint, things escalated quickly on the out lap following the second driver change of the race.

After Pascal Theis had just completed his stint, Bell lost control over his car on the out lap, at the track section of Pflanzgarten, when he was trying to pass a slower class car and crashed into the barriers hard, completely destroying the car. The team was unfortunately unable to continue the race, failing to finish its second consecutive race.

And thus, the second place finish of the No. 84 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup remained the sole highlight for the team on this weekend.

"This was an incredible race. We had to fight from start to finish, could never ease off. Kudos to the guys of Arturas Kundelis. They did a great job and are deserving winners.", said Benjamin Fischer.

"We actually expected quite a bit of problems today, with the tires at these high temperatures. But we had competitive pace. I'm super proud of the team and how we presented ourselves today."

The iRacing Nürburgring Endurance Championship continues next Sunday, with Round 6, before a four-week long summer break begins right after.
