Will Robertson got into motorsports later than most today. With his first proper introduction to racing being NASCAR, he never really appreciated it at the time. He was later starting to get into the mechanics and engineering of it all first.
He says about himself: "I wouldn’t be what most would consider a traditional route into motorsports."
Will’s passion for motorsports grew side by side with sim racing. The more he raced virtually, the more interested he became in real-life motorsports. Eventually, Will’s heart fell in love with Formula One. It all makes sense since his original forte was the mechanics and engineering of it all.
Eventually, Will made the jump to iRacing. After five years on the service, "it hasn’t been the start to write home about", he says. What started as a somewhat casual hobby of weekend racing quickly became more serious after the first attempt at a 24hr endurance race. The 24 Hours of Daytona was the first attempt that turned for the worse throughout the night. Since then, the hobby has become a part-time job. Spending every moment he can learning and improving.
After lots of hard work, it started to pay off with a first-ever podium finish at iRacing’s Petit Le Mans with a P2. Intending to win a 24hr event is still a goal. There is still a lot of work left for him with the plan to transfer these skills to real life on the track, even if it’s just a weekend track day.
