Preview: VSCA Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio
Meanwhile, the team arrives with several changes on board. Both GT Porsche teams will have a new look with driver lineup changes. Manuel Mayer will now team up with Jay Van Meppelen in the No. 84 entry.
Nelson Eberth, who previously shared the cockpit with Mayer in the first three races of the season, will team up with Stephen Nobes in the No. 85 Porsche.
In the P2 Prototype team, the No. 14 Dallara P217, there will be a change as well. Paddy Schindler will replace the unavailable Jason Birnie at Mid-Ohio and will join team-mate Niclas Pedersen in the chase for points and positions.
Despite all the changes in the drivers lineup, the goal does not change for all three teams: To get top-five finishes or even a podium finish.
In the P2 Prototype championship the No. 14 Dallara P217 team has maintained solid chances. In the GT3 class, things are looking not quite as good, however the last word hasn’t been spoken here, either.
“We just have to look forward and finish those races. That’s where we’ve had trouble. The pace was good, but the results haven’t reflected that.”, said Manuel Mayer.
Mid-Ohio, similar to Laguna Seca, counts as a real test in regards of multi-class racing. The pilots will be pushed to the limits of their patience.
In regards to pit stop strategy, the team was tight lipped, but team owner Fischer said:
“I think many have seen what happened at Laguna Seca and will make changes because of that. Track position will be very important, especially if we get many full course yellows again like we did last time. We need to be ready and well prepared.”
Green flag for the VSCA Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio waves Saturday at 18:00 CEST / 16:00 GMT. For the first time ever, a VSCA race will be broadcast live by Apex Racing TV with commentary (English).
